Supporting & Building Resilience

Supporting & Building Resilience

Did you know that people spend 47% of their waking hours thinking about something other than what they’re doing, and this mind-wandering typically makes them unhappy.

Pauline shared with us some interesting techniques and approaches for performing at your best while under stress, as well as how to maintain high levels of energy throughout the week.

What is resilience?

  • The process of adapting well in the face of adversity
  • Bouncing back from difficult circumstances
  • Resilience lives at the intersection of optimism and realism

You don't become resilient overnight -?it’s an ongoing set of behaviours accompanied by willingness to engage. You can develop it, but you have to work at it.

Resilience won’t make your problems go away, but it will give you the ability to see past any problems, find enjoyment in life, and better cope with stress. If you are not as resilient as you would like to be, you can build and learn techniques to become more resilient.

Here are our top tips to improve your resilience:

  • Learn from experience, your past challenges give you the resilience you might need in the future.
  • Get connected. Building strong, positive relationships with loved ones and friends can give you much needed support, guidance and acceptance.
  • Be kind to yourself, take time each day to relax and unwind.
  • Make every day meaningful. Do one thing a day that makes you happy and creates a sense of accomplishment. A great way to do so is?by setting clear and achievable goals each day.
  • Be proactive! If you feel like something is a struggle or makes you unhappy, make a plan to change it.
