During such an unprecedented time for our local businesses, the city of Houston is coming together to support favorite retailers and discovering new opportunities to keep businesses thriving.
Hannah Tosch of Colliers International focused on inspiring others to support local restaurants by challenging her Instagram audience in a week-long campaign. To help raise awareness about the industry, she featured a different local restaurant each day to follow for an opportunity to win a gift card.
"We as Houstonians need to remember there is so much more to our local businesses than the food they cook, the clothes they sell, or the services they offer," said Hannah, "Small businesses are the heart of the city. I want to highlight the important role they play in the community."
With a community like Houston's, we are all eager to have things go back to normal. It's the little things we crave, like the waitstaff always remembering your order, being on a first-name basis with the local store owner, a sense of community at your go-to happy hour spot with friends. We want to be able to go back to that lifestyle and know it is still there when the public is ready.
Now, Hannah's campaign is growing to all types of local retailers. With the goal being to educate the community on how they can still purchase products even if their doors are closed. #SupportHoustonRetail hopes to become a platform where the community will come together to promote what retailers are offering to their customers, including fitness studios, merchandise shops, eateries, etc.
While Hannah will continue to support her clients by personally purchasing gift cards to give away, she will also collaborate with retailers on what they are doing to adapt during this unusual reality. By telling the stories of local retailers, we hope to inspire others to #SupportHoustonRetail.
