Support for Obamacare hits record high; Obama commutes Chelsea Manning's sentence; and more news
Just as Congress begins in earnest the process of repealing the ACA, more Americans than ever think Obamacare is a "good idea." A Wall Street Journal/NBC poll found 46% favorable vs 41% not, the highest "pro" since passage and the first time sentiment has been positive. Also, 50% said they had little or no confidence a replacement "would make things better." That said, the poll was taken before PEOTUS Trump promised "insurance for everybody."

President Obama will commute the sentence of Chelsea Manning, whose "enormous 2010 leak" revealed military and diplomatic secrets and put Wikileaks on the map. Manning, then Bradley, was sentenced to 35 years in a military prison and has applied for gender reassignment treatment, with which the military has no experience. Manning's sentence will end in May, 28 years early. (Photo: Josh Edelson/AFP/Getty)

By all means buy into Snap's IPO if you think it's a good investment — but be prepared to have zero voting rights. The public offering will be structured to give founders Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy 70% control (they'll own 45% of the company), a not-unusual structure in tech but "a radical step for a company with no track record as a public corporation," reports Quartz.
The oldest Baby Boomers are now tapping into $10 trillion in retirement savings, some reluctantly since withdrawals (mandatory at 70-1/2) create a tax event. The massive influx of cash will have an unpredictable impact on the economy and creates a dilemma for financial services, which must persuade customers to re-invest rather than spend, and millennials to step up saving.
The search for MH370 was suspended, ending a frustrating three-year effort to determine what happened to the ill-fated flight. "The most complex and expensive search in aviation history cost around $150 million," The Washington Post reports, encompassing a scan of 46,000 square miles of seabed. (Photo: Asit Kumar/AFP/Getty)
The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus will fold its tent for the last time in May after 146 years. It's just the latest, but by far the biggest circus to bite the dust as this form of entertainment struggles to appear relevant and animal-friendly. Fewer than three dozen "prominent" circuses remain in the US, the Wall Street Journal reports, which is about three dozen more than most of us knew about. (Photo: Josh Edelson/AFP/Getty)
Donald Trump broke with decades of presidential tradition (surprise!) by commenting on the strength of the dollar (it's “too strong” and “it’s killing us”). His remarks pushed the dollar down to one-month lows, and also seemed to contribute to a decline on Wall Street.
