Is There Support for Joe Paterno?
Besides the damning Freeh report investigating all the circumstances of Joe Paterno and Penn State officials protecting Jerry Sandusky and hiding his sexual abuse of children, there is the Sollers report, commissioned by the Paterno family to clear his name.
Read the Sollers report here.
This report argues the Freeh report has so many errors, it can not be used to verify anything related to what Joe Paterno knew or when he knew it.
The Soller report is worth reading, however, it sheds no new light on the facts in this case, except as a rebuttal.
Perhaps the most significant problem with the Sollers report is it fails to even mention the 1998 investigation of sexual abuse allegations against Jerry Sandusky, which included an investigation by Penn State police. There were 2 assessments by psychologists, one of whom wrote that Sandusky was likely a pedophile.
Read more about these assessments here and here.
Joe Paterno and his family can not be criticized for wanting to protect his reputation.
However, the Sollers report does nothing to support Paterno's name or reputation.
