Support IWPR's Local Voices on Giving Tuesday

This Giving Tuesday, join us in supporting courageous local voices in the world’s most challenging areas.?

Despite a historic year of elections in 2024, democratic freedoms are under assault globally, while sharp and persistent conflicts rage.?In these divisive times, IWPR stands with independent media and civil society at the frontlines of crisis and change.

HELP THEM TO BE HEARD BY DONATING NOW

They face attack and arrest, endure countless practical challenges and confront a tsunami of malign information from Russia, China and other non-democratic actors. ?

Yet they continue to fight for freedom of expression, promote core rights, expose wrongdoing.? ?

We empower them by building skills and providing resources, supporting safety and nurturing grassroots leadership.

This year our programming supported hundreds of investigative reporters and civic rights defenders, including: ?

  • A writer-in-exile navigates surveillance and evades minders, avoiding potential abduction for his continuing efforts to provide objective information back home. ?
  • Independent media and civil society across Georgia are being provided extensive training, legal support and other resources at a time of spiralling unrest.? ?

  • Journalists and rights defenders from Israel, Gaza, Lebanon and elsewhere in the region report on the realities and fears of escalating war in the Middle East. ?

  • Journalist Philip Teye Agbove investigates how local media in Ghana faced down attack for asking questions about a controversial major salt mining project.

The struggle for justice, rights and equitable development is as urgent as ever, and local voices are critical to helping societies find their own solutions. ?

Your support will allow us to extend our support for local voices in crisis areas.?

JOIN US IN THIS VITAL MISSION BY?DONATING TODAY

With warm wishes, and heartfelt thanks.
