Support functions like F&A, HR, IT, Facility management, risk & compliance and administration or Procurement – so called Business Enabling Functions (BEFs) ensure, everyone else focuses on their core competencies while they provide them with ease, comfort and the joy of working with them. BEF teams are problem solvers - offering a hand to expedite, unblock and resolve(sans the bureaucracy ) any and all matters that concern their teams, customers and stakeholders.?
When organisations get muddled in myriads of process over simplified solutions, it not only creates a challenge to employee morale but also affects the culture of the organisation. BEF functions cannot have a bureaucratic approach, instead everyone in the team need to operate like a Servant Leader.
To be effective, it is smart to know the characteristics of a leader:
1) Respect - They communicate at all times respectfully and compassionately - the ability to listen to, understand the problem and take steps to resolve them. Are much more interested in hearing the viewpoints of others than having their voice be the loudest in the room. Seek first to understand, and then to be understood.
2) Appreciation?- value people and appreciate them for who they are, not just for what they give to the organisation. They are committed first and foremost to their people.

3) Humility?- put other people first. They are humble. They know leadership is not all about them—things are accomplished through others.
4) Trust?- give trust to others. They willingly take this risk for the people they serve. They are trusted because they are authentic and dependable.
5) Caring?- have people and purpose in their hearts. They display kindness and concern for others. They are here to serve, not to be served. They truly care for the people they serve.
Servant leader support teams create a Culture of Care, Respect, Recognition and Appreciation which fosters trust, collaboration, team work and solution focused approach amongst teams.?
Business Enabling teams are the Core of any business function. They are the center that holds the organisation together. Their behaviour and leadership style determine the culture of the organisation.
