Support of farmers in product safety management | Field monitoring of producers
To facilitate access to producers' markets, it is imperative to provide support for the adherence to quality standards, as a lack of compliance could potentially compromise access to competitive markets.
Following training sessions during which the producers were made aware and trained on the quality criteria, our entrepreneurship facilitators organised field follow-ups with our producers in order to monitor and evaluate the implementation of these criteria.
The follow-ups conducted with the technical assistance of Six Sigma are based on distinct quality standards, such as hygiene regulations, the prevention of product contamination, and the environmental regulations that each producer must adhere to based on their respective fields of activity. The visits to the sites provided our facilitators with the opportunity to ascertain the degree of implementation of quality criteria by each producer. The facilitators then provided feedback to each producer on their quality performance, highlighting areas where improvements are needed to achieve better results.
We remain committed to delivering this support to the end, with the goal of creating conscious rural entrepreneurs who integrate quality criteria into their production, processing, packaging, and transport of their products. Thus, they will have the opportunity to gain access to competitive markets, enabling them to market their products to the satisfaction of their clients.
It is noteworthy that the project aims to enhance the resilience of rural producers by diversifying their sources of income. The project supports 130 rural producers in the creation, structure, and management of agricultural and non-agricultural micro-enterprises in the target provinces of Logone Oriental and Mayo Kebbi Est.
