Hello everyone. Things have been excitingly busy over the past week for me here in Tulsa. For the past four months, I've been commuting back and forth between Tulsa and Houston, where my family currently resides. I'm happy to say that is almost over as the entire family will be moving to Tulsa in the next month or so. The travel is starting to wear on me, so I'm glad that it is almost over.
Last weekend, I had the honor of participating in the Black Wall Street Legacy Fest as I participated in a panel discussion about Black technology entrepreneurship in Tulsa. Thanks to Tyrance Billingsly (Black Tech Street) for the invite and to Dr. Tiffany Crutcher/Vanessa Hall Harper for organizing the event in general. The capstone of the event was a public discussion with Nikole Hannah Jones of the 1619 project, which helped me to clarify some of my objectives here in Tulsa.
Lastly, I would like to give a shout-out to Sherrell Dorsey (The Plug) for creating The State of The Pledge, a site that is holding corporations accountable for their diversity pledges post-George Floyd. As I think about my goal of helping large corporations and governments to diversify their supply chains, I'm sure this site will be a resource that I will often reference. Thanks to The Plug and Blacks In Technology for doing this important work.
