SUPERVISION IN CONSTRUCTION SITES

Supervision is the main selling point of a successful project. It is always taken as an understatement as everybody is assumed to be responsible and not In need of monitoring.It is the consultant’s mandate to be in charge of supervision at all times to create a risk-free environment.

Deficiency or insufficiency of supervision makes the project vulnerable to various risks. Such include poor workmanship,accidents,mass waste production, environmental pollution and overall waste of resources. The project eventually will fail to fit within the constraints of time, cost and quality because relevant parties will be out to frustrate you.

A project is communal enterprise as much as it is a private development.Inconviniences regarding environmental comfort arising from site activities disrupts the peace of the surrounding community. Where uncivilized, it will call for a hostile counter-attack and eventually invasion by the relevant authorities. Hiring the wrong people for the job results in environmental pollution particularly sound and air.

Unfortunately, while on site you find the foreman is the only supervisor or the client assumes himself as the supervisor. This is wrong.Furthermore,when the consultants are done with the designs and request for site visit,the client becomes adamant and in his defense states that he has his own supervisor, who is just the foreman.

National Environmental Management (NEMA) authority also issue guidelines in matters regarding the site being environmental compliant. Never think that because you have their license you may misbehave as you wish. The waste generated as as result of activities on site must be controlled as the effects are detrimental.

Dearest client;embrace supervision.Just like at childbirth,your task never ends by a mere delivery but also the upbringing of your child.The same for building,after designs they must be supervised and managed.This is not a request because you do not also beg to discipline you child.Lets work together.
