Have you ever sat on the sidelines and watched colleagues and coworkers float gloriously up the corporate ladder??
Perhaps it's a friend or a family member who seems to effortlessly make clear, wise decisions, has abundant energy, excellent communication skills and an all-over "good vibe, people person"...
I used to observe those people, envy those people, and try to figure out what type of supercharged vitamin they were taking.??
But it turns out (years after becoming a nutritional medicine practitioner) that it’s NOT a supercharged vitamin.
Nope!
The secret sauce is that they look after their well-being and practice self-compassion.?
In a study recently published by Wellbeing Lab, Australian workers found that those who practised self-compassion were significantly more likely to:
??Relinquish self-judgment – Instead of beating themselves up about what failures they are when things don’t go well, they acknowledge they’re not where they want to be yet and encourage themselves to keep trying. They’re kind to themselves, rather than self-critical.
?? Reject isolation – Instead of hiding away when they make mistakes so others don’t witness their embarrassment, they’re vulnerable enough to ask for help and support from others. They accept that they’re perfectly imperfect - just like everyone else - and use this knowledge to confidently connect with others.
??Resist over-identification – Instead of becoming overwhelmed when faced with difficult challenges, they mindfully seek out opportunities to build on their strengths – the things they’re good at and enjoy doing – as they learn and grow. They’re mindful of how their feelings impact how they approach their work.

As a result, these workers not only report higher levels of WELLBEING, but also higher levels of engagement, performance, and job satisfaction.??
What do higher levels of engagement, performance and job satisfaction mean??
?? A happier YOU
?? A happier workplace culture
?? Less risk of burnout
?? And greater profitability for an organisation?
