SDF's Stratus Implementation Update
Our Pomona location has fully embraced using Stratus as our Manufacturing Execution System (MES). We’re continuing to fine-tune the process but wanted to share some key updates on our journey so far.
Stratus has helped us manage and track jobs more efficiently, with 10+ dedicated workstations up and running, almost every part of our process is visible and manageable from start to finish. Year to date nearly 20,000 packages have already been processed through Stratus by our CAM department, demonstrating our commitment to streamlining our workflow.
Looking ahead, one of our main goals is using Stratus to reduce paper on the shop floor. Additionally, we’re gearing up to have Stratus rolled out at all Superior Duct locations by the end of the year. We’re excited about this transition and look forward to seeing continued positive progress!

Steel Market Update from COO Reed Reynolds
As we wrap up 2024, and start to plan for 2025, there is a lot to think about. Please be advised we are budgeting for increased costs in our core raw material products, including steel and liner. With lead-times stretched out, two of the major fiberglass insulation manufacturers have already announced an 8% increase on HVAC products at the beginning of the year, and we expect others to follow. As it relates to steel and steel products, we are also anticipating price increases as we transition into the New Year. In early September the US Department of Commerce launched an investigation into 10 countries responsible for importing galvanized steel.
While we primarily source our steel products domestically, we anticipate this will have a meaningful impact on steel supply dynamics in the West Coast. The 10 countries involved in this investigation have suspended imports into the US for the foreseeable future, which will most likely create an opportunity for the domestic mills to increase pricing. We will make sure to communicate information as we learn more.

Market Update from Sales Director Taylor Mortensen
The U.S. HVAC market is seeing solid growth, with projections showing a 7.4% annual increase through 2030. Key trends include a shift toward energy efficiency and the integration of smart technologies for better airflow control. Retrofitting is also on the rise, as many buildings are upgrading old ducts to newer, more advanced systems. The focus on clean air in schools, healthcare, and office spaces is fueling demand for advanced ventilation solutions which, overall, is incredibly positive for our industry.
Seasonally, we tend to see a bit of a slowdown in Q4 but we are seeing a tremendous number of projects kicking off this quarter putting contractors in a very favorable position to close out the year and bring strong momentum into the new year.
