Supercloud: What is it and why it matters

What is Supercloud? Supercloud is a term that has been used to describe several different cloud computing models. In general, Supercloud can be defined as a single platform that provides multiple services and manages all the resources for you. This differs from multi-cloud, which is more commonly used today and refers to using multiple cloud providers simultaneously. While multi-cloud offers a lot of benefits, Supercloud promises to offer even more value due to its unified management interface and economies of scale.

The origin of Supercloud can be traced back to 2010 when a group of researchers from Carnegie Mellon University proposed the concept in a paper titled “The Supercloud Vision”. In this paper, the authors argued that Supercloud is the natural evolution of cloud computing and will one day become the dominant model for delivering IT services. While this may have seemed like a far-fetched idea at the time, Supercloud has started to become a reality. This article from SiliconAngle talks about the what Supercloud is all about.
