Technology is rapidly transforming the marketing landscape and AI has emerged as a game-changer. You know that staying ahead of the curve is essential to your success. But where do you start?
That's why I’m launching this newsletter.
My objective is to spark curiosity, inspire action and share practical tips to enable you to start leveraging AI in your business today.
???????????????? - ??????'?? ???????????? ???? ?????? ?????? ???? ????!
In this edition you will discover:
The Sam Altman quote
In the Our AI Journey book entrepreneurs Adam Brotman and Andy Sack mentioned this (shocking) quote from Sam Altman, OpenAI's CEO. The quote was first mentioned by Mike Kaput and the Marketing AI Institute - a very reliable source of AI information.
Let's take a moment to breathe.
And by the way, if you are not in marketing and thinking "I'm OK for now" please understand that Altman was referring to all knowledge workers.
This is a little bit how I felt when I started playing with ChatGPT end of 2022. It dawned on me that marketing is going to be disrupted, massively. Then, in early January 2023 a client of mine said, "we don't need your services any more, Celia, ChatGPT can write copy for us"! (this was quite funny, not funny, because I'm not a copywriter, I had simply stepped in to help them because they were stuck!)
This is when I made the decision to dive deep into AI for Marketing and understand how to leverage it, and enable others to do the same.
So, this is my advice to you today. Aim to understand how AI can integrate into your workflow, which parts of your current position is going to replace (because it will) and start designing your future role, today.
Where do you start? By learning how to use ChatGPT - the most powerful model, so far. You will need min 10 hours of focused learning to start building a good foundation.
Is AI disrupting the way we search the web?
The answer is emphatically yes! And if you are new to ChatGPT then you will soon discover this for yourself.
In the last few months, I'm noticing that my search habits have changed. My first port of call now is ChatGPT and then AI browsers like Bing AI. I'm using Google sparingly, primarily for local searches and no longer use Google for content related searches.
And I'm not alone. ChatGPT Plus can browse the internet without the ads, the results are more concise, the user experience much better.
This is an unsettling trend for Google whose advertising model is disrupted; it also has a significant impact on SEO and ads agencies future business model and potentially, pricing.
And Bing AI's new Deep Search is about to make things even more interesting. Announced in December 2023, this new search on steroids (powered by GPT-4) is being rolled out as we speak. It will produce more comprehensive results and capture the intent and expectations of our searches more accurately, Microsoft says.
Have you noticed a change in your habits? Let me know in the comments below.
Are you polite to the bot?
A few weeks ago I asked my LinkedIn network whether they say please and thank you when working with ChatGPT. The answer was nearly 50-50 (a bit more on the polite side).
And you may think it doesn't matter, the bot doesn't care; we can't offend it. But now we know that it does matter as explained by Microsoft's Director of design for Copilot.
Large Language Models (LLMs) are trained on human conversations. The best way to understand how they work is to imagine them as incredibly powerful predictive machines; they predict sequence of words. LLMs can "read" the tone of our prompts and if we are courteous then the output is more likely to be polite and respectful. But if you've ever been curt with the bot you may notice a bit of attitude coming back!
I have also found that showing appreciation helps a lot. Things like "good start, let's work on this part" or "thank you, this was helpful" gets ChatGPT rather excited and I end up having a friendly and supportive conversation with my intelligent assistant.
Give it a go and let me know how it works for you.
The iA Conversations - LinkedIn Lives
On 22nd March I hosted my first LinkedIn Live. My aim is to explore even further how professionals are using their intelligent assistant. I kick started the conversation with AI start up entrepreneur Surya Varatharajan - watch here and give him a follow. Surya built Yosanie | AI LinkedIn Post Writer ?? , an AI tool which reactivates dormant LinkedIn company pages, and shared his journey and top tips with us.
The Live will be happening every second Thursday at 1pm and the next date for your diary is 4th April. I'll be talking to John Williams about using AI to write his book. Register here: https://www.dhirubhai.net/events/7179479905733099520/about/

The ChatGPT prompt
"Make it sharper" recommends Surya Varatharajan .
At the LinkedIn Live a couple of days ago Surya said that this is his favourite ChatGPT prompt. He has found this to work very well when creating content and you would like to push the quality of the output even further. In his experience, it works better than saying "more concise" for example. I like it!
Give it a go and let me know. Tag Surya as well.
The AI Book to Read
Mustafa Suleyman, a British AI entrepreneur, has been at the very heart of AI development for decades. He is the Co-Founder of DeepMind an innovative AI company later acquired by Google. In the last few days it was announced that Suleyman was hired by Microsoft as a CEO of its AI unit.
In this book, Suleyman talks about the different waves of innovation throughout humanity and what it means for AI's adoption. He is surprisingly sceptical at times. A good read.
You can find the book in my Read to Inspire bookstore and if you choose to buy from there then you will be supporting a local bookseller in the UK.
The iA Wordle: Sharpen your knowledge of AI terms with this customised Wordle
On 15th March the popular New York Times game celebrated its 1000th edition. Do you like playing Wordle? I do and think it would be fun to create a customised version for AI.
Here is how it works.
All the words are AI terms; they can be any length so I will be giving you a little clue to help you solve them. In the following edition I'll explain what they mean.
This edition's clue: Error or glitch.
Drop a quick note in the comments to let me know if you got it.

The iA Tool to Watch (literally)
Introducing Sora, OpenAI's latest cutting-edge text-to-video generator. The feature, which was announced mid-February, can create up to 60 secs long videos but it's not released to the public yet. Select artists and red-team hackers are (stress) testing it at the moment.
The development of text-to-video generators the last few months has been exponential. Faster than anyone expected, including industry insiders.
Technologically, an incredible achievement. But there are concerns. For very convincing deep fakes, copyright issues and the future of creative jobs in this field.
AI Marketing Qualification
Proud moment to share with you all - CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing launched the AI Marketing qualification in September last year and I joined the very first cohort. Studied flat out for weeks and sat the exam in early January - my badge has just been issued. Got 96%!
That's it for today. See you in 2 weeks.
