Supercharging Viveport Subscription

Today we announced that our Virtual Reality subscription service is going to get even more amazing for our customers. Viveport is the app store for the HTC Vive, and I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to lead the marketing team here.

My team is always thinking of ways we can make our store and our subscription service more impactful for our customers. We started our subscription service last year with 50 VR titles with a relatively simple business model where a customer can pick and play five titles every month for one low monthly price. In the last seven months of our subscription offering, our catalog has grown by over 600% to 375 titles. Our store is now available in over 61 countries. In November last year, our subscription service revenue overtook our traditional Pay and Download revenue.

While it has been fun and exciting to see our subscriber base snowball beyond our forecasts and expectations, we have been working hard to figure out ways to make our service more sticky. So, today, we are adding a few awesome perks for our subscribers.

(1) All members will receive exclusive FREE codes for games and apps, starting in February and then regularly during the year.

(2) All Weekend Deals on Viveport – (promotions offering discounts on apps and games which customers want to add permanently to their Viveport library) will now only be available to members

In addition to these customers perks, we are also supercharging our service for Content Developers. Starting March 22, we will increase our monthly subscription price to $8.99. This will increase the developers' revenue share per subscriber by 28%. If someone is already a subscriber or signs up with a free trial before March 22, we will lock their lower monthly rate until the end of 2018.

My team is already at work to add more perks to the service through the rest of the year, and we cannot wait to, see more amazing games and apps to join Viveport. You can get more details on our blog or read the media coverage of the announcement.
