We've all been there.
The organisation invests an obscene amount of money in a course library, and after much fanfare and an initial spike of excitement, activity steadily dwindles until the platform resembles a ghost town vacated by all but the most enthusiastic of fans.
Similar problems with learner engagement beset other forms of digital training too; whether it's the famously low completions rates of MOOCs, or the constant chasing up of laggards who are yet to complete their compliance modules.

2 年Very well said. I think assessing application can even come first; if taking the course will make one more efficient, the time is partly created already, unless the procedures are so decrepit that the potential learner would feel like wasting valuable time taking the course.

2 年3 simple and clear pieces of advice Ryan Tracey. Making time allows the brain to focus on the learning, contextualising it makes it relevant and can assist with mentally prioritising it and applying it makes both work reinforces the learning.

2 年Great suggestions Ryan Tracey! Totally agree that digital learning needs to be supported with other activities to aid in reinforcement and application! It changes the narrative from “training is a single event” (or digital course) to a series of learning bites that together build knowledge and allow for application over time.
