My annual ritual pre-Superbowl is to to preview all the ads & highlight some of my ones to watch. For those of you outside they US who won't get the chance to see these mid-game, or for those of you in the US too busy tucking into some Superbowl snacks or drinks to take notice I've done the hard work for you. Here's a few I've picked out in no particular order...
Budweiser & Uber: Whassuuuup Again
Ok Boomer! This one's for you. Ironically created by Budweiser in Canada this brings the original "Whasssssuup ad into the 21st century, showing the endurance of that original ad from all those years ago. Watch here
Google pulling on the heart strings as they bring their products to life in this emotional spot using the voice of a Google employee's real-life grandfather asking his Google Assistant to help him remember things about his late wife, Loretta. Watch here
Microsoft: Be the One - Katie Sowers
Focusing on the 33 year old San Francisco 49ers offensive coach, Katie Sowers, this inspiring Surface ad highlights her journey as one of the handful of women coaching in the NFL, and it's first openly gay coach. Watch here
A patriotic effort, focusing on looking beyond the labels of the American character & what makes real Americans at a turbulent time. Watch here
Google: A little help before the Superbowl
Google cleverly bringing the search data around the Superbowl to life in this ad - for anyone who doesn't really know much about the Superbowl you'll learn a thing or two along the way! Watch here
There will be a lot more focus on their other Superbowl ad (featuring Jimmy Fallon & John Cena) but I've picked this one out as we start to see environmental issues & a purpose driven messaging come into the mainstream - particularly interesting seeing this angle from a beer brand too. Watch here
Definitely an unintentional skew towards beer & technology in here but let me know any of your favourites from above or others you see before, during or after tonight's game. Roll on Game time
