As have gotten to know the superb sound of Patrick Yandall, and his music he has always impressed me with his superior musicianship and his perfectionist style of sounds that emit from his music. With this being said Patrick releases his 20th music album called " A Journey Home" and where I heard Patrick leans back and plays his heart out, the album title says it all. I heard sounds of good ol' rhythm and blues and this album projects this sound magnificently. Smooth is the word for this eclectic mix of songs. The first cut called " A Journey Home" Patrick lays down the smoothness and sharpness in a manner that just really showcases his perfectionism in his craft. Patrick shows us all how it's done with the next song called "Second Chance" Patrick has that complete sound of superb style and the guitar work is just brilliant and splashed with colors and vibrancy. "Cruising Kuhio Hwy" has that and more, where Patrick takes the full depth sounds and makes them come alive in your ears and keeps the full sound of his talent all the way through from start to finish. With the next song called "Intimate Request" Patrick leads you into the path of full spectrum reality and is superb and really really a splendid sound. "My Ride" starts off with a bang, where the horn section really is dominant, and where Patrick struts his fancy guitar fret work throughout, the kind of sound that is true to Jazz and made me a believer in Patricks superior styling and musicianship. With the song called "Spirit Moves" Patrick once again nails it, the feel of this song is one of the finest I have heard in the jazz world and Patrick is one to watch out for. Patrick shows his ability to get in a way real persuasive with his phenomenal ability to without the use of lyrics allow you to hear it through his tremendous gift of fancy fret work on his guitar and it comes across in a awesome way. "Are You Ready" is another finely crafted and a wow, and yet a real reason that I am such a big fan of Patrick And his tremendous musical abilities. With this song Patrick adds the elements of under the music harmonies that add that flavor of freshness and crispness, and it really changes it up in a nice way. I in the past have not been per say a jazz person, however, when I listen to the wonderful world of Patrick Yandall and his excellent craft of playing his music he really has made me a real fan and a real believer of jazz music as a whole. "Passion" is yet a smash this is where I really honestly knew and heard the "passion" in Patricks articulate ability to convey his superb style and flavor injected music to my ears, and I love it. Patrick really seems on this album reaches back in the music to his rhythm & blues roots and grasps onto it like a bid on it's prey. "Sunday Offering" Patrick, well in my words Damn this guys for real, A slow ballad but continues with that real flavored rhythm & blues and with the added flavor of the keyboards, in which I believe it's a hammond makes that sound complete and honestly awesome. "Ranai" "Romantic Love" Patrick well adds to the flavor of jazz with his smoothness and flavorful and and keeps the emotional level continuing with this song and is a very romantic and soul felt ballad that allows one to really become heart melting and adds to that emotionally "checked in" feeling. "One Way In" continues to keep that rhythm & blues sound alive and well with a little funk to the mix but remains true to the Patrick Yandall flavor in which is superb and real and yet emotionally filling. This sound adds to the full spectrum of Patricks abilities as a, well "One Heck of a musician" and always satisfies my musical pallet. "Blue Jay Blues" Patrick is splendid and brings in that element of blues once again and the horn section is out of this world, and has an almost big band sound to it, never the less Patrick really hits the big time with this grand magnificently finely crafted album. As I have said in the past I really appreciate all the artists that have allowed me to be part of their music journeys, and I am especially proud and honored to be part of Patrick Yandall and his wonderful talent and his amazing and tremedous recent release of his album called " A Journey Home". Not only his journey home I felt as if it was mine also, thank you Patrick for allowing me to be a part of your journey and I wish you all the best in all you do, you deserve it and I always look forward to hearing new material from a multi talented musician Patrick Yandall and as a true friend.
