Super Head of Team Gains His Senior Fellowship!

University is where students go to improve themselves, and gain fundamental work skills, but did you know our academics do the same? They’re constantly improving themselves so they can provide our students with the best education, and so they’re equipped with the right skills to succeed within their chosen careers. This even includes one member of our esteemed faculty making it his New Years resolution to achieve his Senior Fellowship!?

From Team Member to Super Head?

Meet Dr. Godfred Osei, SFHEA. , who was born and raised in the picturesque Ghana. He started his journey with QA Higher Education in 2019, where he joined The ACE Team (the Academic Community of Excellence). He’s since worked his way up the ladder and now supports the faculty, teaching business and management at our Manchester Campus.?

A Pragmatic Approach to Everything??

Dr Osei’s favourite part of his role? It's developing a conducive learning environment. He does this through supporting and mentoring his colleagues in obtaining their fellowships, and working hard to ensure students are always supported. Ensuring they leave their course with more knowledge in the field of Business, to help them with their future goals.??

A 95% pass rate!?

Dr Osei views himself ‘as a stranger in this world, just passing through’ and wants to ‘leave the world a better place than [he] found it’. Because of this, he’s always striving to put plans in place that help support the academic faculty and students and reviewing the effects of his efforts with fundamental feedback forms. Because of his hard work, and that of the supporting academic faculty, he discovered that the modules reviewed were subsequently run without issue, with a 95% pass rate out of over 400 students!??

A New Years Resolution That Makes a Difference??

Many people make their New Years resolutions to go to the gym, eat healthier or to give up a bad habit, however, as aways, Dr Godfred Osei was only thinking of supporting his academic faculty and students. In January 2023, his resolution was to gain his Senior Fellowship, and after a lengthy application process, he finally received the well-deserved prestigious award in January 2024.??

What is a Senior Fellowship Award??

The Senior Fellowship is awarded to professionals by the UK higher Education Academy who have a proven and sustained track record relating to teaching, learning and curriculum design within higher education. It’s a formal appreciation and recognition of Dr Osei’s leadership role in higher education based on the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF).??

A Thank-You to His Mentors??

Dr Godfred Osei says ‘it feels great to be recognised by the UK Higher Education Academy as a Senior Fellow’ and that he’s proud to have SFHEA after his name. Stating his colleagues within the learning and teaching team have been instrumental in putting together resources to help. He’d like to also personally thank his mentor Marshall Padenga and everyone who has supported him in diverse ways to help him towards this achievement. Dr Osei is now looking forward to giving back to the learning community who have supported him so much.??
