?? 3 Super Strategies to Build More Meaningful Relationships
Here the top 3 strategies that have served me most in building meaningful relationships with people I deeply admire - 10 or 1000 steps ahead of me:
?? Strategy 1 - "Always Carry a Compliment with You"
This is my number one strategy when I first connect with someone on LinkedIn, and to add value as your relationship grows over time.
The idea is to just show up to give what people love most, genuine compliments that make them feel they matter and are special.
Here is my 3-step process to connect with the best compliments:
Here are 2 of my favourite templates you can use ??

"Hi [name]! I have been following you and your journey on [company name or area of expertise] and finally, I wanted to send you a connection note to tell you how much it inspires me all your [insert your genuine compliment]. I'd love to connect with you to support your journey & exchange ideas in the future!!"
"Hi [name]! I've been loving all your work/content in [space of interest] and even more [insert your genuine compliment]. Looking ahead, I'd love to support all your work in any small way whilst keeping exchanging ideas in community!"
PS: Time to build relationships, one compliment at a time. You'll be surprised how far this can take you and surprise others in a way that matters ???
?? Strategy 2 - "Become Their Biggest Supporter"
Once you've connected with them. It's time to not continue building your connection by becoming their biggest supporter!
The more supportive you are about the things that matter to them & you, the deeper you will grow this new relationship and faster.
Use this strategy to feel more authentic to focus your energies and efforts only with those who after connecting you resonate more with what they do & share.
Here are some ideas that you can find joy using & that work:
PS: Time to build relationships deeper, showing up as the support activist of their work/life everyone wishes to have on their corner ???
?? Strategy 3 - "No Asks for a Year Rule by Dorie Clark "
Now that you are giving the best genuine compliments and being their biggest supporter, do that for at least 1 year.
All in a way that feels authentic to you BUT without making any asks!
That's what I've learned from Dorie Clark , in her best-selling book, The Long Game, and it has changed my career & life as I build meaningful relationships:
As Dorie Clark writes: "The strategy I follow personally, and recommend to others, is no asks for a year. Waiting a year to ask for any favors prevents anyone from inferring that you have an agenda. And frankly it stops you from having one, even subconsciously. It lets you step back and concentrate on building a genuine friendship. You don't have a specific ask in mind: all you know is that this person, is worth getting to know."
