Super Easy Hack to Create Your Own Vanity Zoom Url in 5 Minutes for less than $10

In this COVID-19 era, real estate agents are using video conferencing as the ‘go-to’ method to communicate. But sharing your Zoom meeting ID can be a hassle, so here is an easy and cheap ‘hack’ that I’ve been using to reduce the friction of starting a new meeting with clients and friends. It will also make you look like a tech-savvy real estate agent at the same time!

You’ll need to have a Zoom Pro account and a domain name from your favorite provider (GoDaddy, Namecheap), but if you don’t here are some resources:

Zoom Pro — https://zoom.us/pricing

Domain setup — https://www.godaddy.com/domains

Namecheap domain —https://www.namecheap.com/domains/domain-name-search/

Step 1:

Make sure you have a Zoom Pro account and locate your permanent Zoom Personal Meeting Room ID

Example: https://zoom.us/j/1234567890

Step 2:

Purchase a domain name address on a site like GoDaddy.com. or Namecheap.com. Currently Namecheap is selling ‘.com’ domain names for as low as $8.88 for the first year.

Domain name example: www.ZoomMyName.com

** Note: The above is just an example of a possible url name. I'm not recommending you use the actual link above.**

ProTip: Think short and simple for the domain name. Your client should be able to just type in the url just by listening to you saying it once over the phone. Anything more difficult may cause additional unnecessary friction.

Step 3:

Go to GoDaddy or your domain host and redirect your domain from www.ZoomMyName.com to your Zoom Personal Meeting Room ID from Step 1.

Step 4:

Lastly, for people to join your meeting, they just need to go to your type your domain into their mobile or desktop browser and Zoom will automatically redirect them into the app for your hosted meeting. If they haven’t used Zoom before, it will first prompt them to download the app and install before they can join the meeting.
