Super clean bus from Cancun Airport right outside and only MX$14 = US$6 at the time, 45 minutes to to downtown and a MX$6 Uber to my hotel downtown.

Super clean, inexpensive, professional and sooo easy coach transportation from Cancun Airport to Downtown also rode the service from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico airport to downtown on the local bus, interesting ride. Explore your options when traveling and don't afraid to try the local transportation service but be sure to read and do your homework because there are scams and shady characters everywhere who love to part you from your money.

I can say that the experiences I had were great. The Ado bus was on time, new, clean, the driver was professional, safe and helped with the luggage. What you would expect from any profession motor coach driver. You hear many different things about Mexico but a little homework can go along way towards making your trip more enjoyable and economical

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico has a service that goes downtown as well, the buses are European models and some are stick shift models which is like some of the buses in Poland I rode in the city from Ikarus. The old bus was only US$1 and it stopped many times in our 1 hour ride to down town. No working AC but even though the temperature was 80F it was a comfortable ride and a guitar player came on board to entertain and try for some tips which some people gave most willingly. I struck up a conversation with a man who offered to show me some of the sites for a fee of course. I did not take advantage of his kind offer unfortunately. You can have some fun, so do your homework and don't be afraid, just be cautious. Many of the 30 and 40 something tourists were also on the buses so people do use local transportation much less expensive than the cabs and shuttle services that you see at the airports and hotels.

On another note in Cancun, and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico the taxi union is very powerful and they don't allow Uber pick ups at the airport and many hotel properties so you may have to walk a short distance to get an Uber which is usually less expensive than a taxi.

I cannot speak from Mexico City of which I have heard a number of horror stories about robberies and kidnappings also some good trips so ask and research for other areas.

I can say. Take bus it is safe, economical and a great way to get around and see the local sites.

What is very interesting is the totally different attitude in Mexico towards bus transportation. It is the preferred to air and much less costly even for long distances. Unfortunately they don't have a totally "NATIONAL" Bus network but they have a number of larger companies that offer long distance transportation so you can travel through out most of Mexico.

I flew into San Diego, California then took the MTS trolley to San Ysidro which is the International border crossing to Tijuana, Mexico, from there I took a MX$8 Uber to TIJ - Tijuana Airport for a local Volaris flight to Cancun airport, never having to go through customs so the boarding and deplaning was very smooth and fast.

They still have the x-ray and inspection also the restrictions on medications (not I am NOT saying drugs because that is something that I don't approve of) fruits, vegetables and foods that may be brought into the country but again ask and do your homework

Some people try and bring back many medications including Xanax, Zoloft and other pain or mood altering medications (stronger that OTC medications available in the US and they are legal in certain quantities but DO YOUR HOMEWORK and DECLARE anything you bring in. Failure to declare something will result in its forfeiture and your will be subject to fines and possible jail. It is NOT worth it. ALSO NEVER carry anything for someone else. If they want something let them get it them self, it's not worth your being a mule because that is exactly how the CBP and Homeland Security looks at it.

I found out that there is no such thing as a $10 tourist fee for the week I stayed in Cabo San Lucas when I first crossed into Mexico the border guard just had his small game set up to make a few extra bucks but lesson learned. The second crossing into Mexico at Tijuana the agent was professional any was clear to let me know that the US EDL Enhanced Drivers License is NOT acceptable for crossing the border they still want a passport but he let me in anyway after a few minutes of friendly conversation no money or anything just a nice person to person conversation which was a great way to get information on some local places to eat and an invitation to his home anytime I came back I might take him up on it when I go back.

So the bottom line is. Have Fun, Research, Do your homework, Ask people who have traveled to the ares your are considering, don't buy into all the hype of doomsday talk. You can save money, have a great time see new things, people some great people. Just be careful, excersize caution (don't flash cash or jewelry and don't be a pompous American, make an effort to learn the culture and some words or phrases, always be polite and remember you represent America, have some pride and respect for yourself and the country and people you are visiting.

Travel do it, it's great.
