Super Bowl LII - Bird Winners & Losers

Super Bowl LII - Bird Winners & Losers

Congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles and their fans everywhere for today's thrilling Super Bowl victory! Alas, they're the only bird species happy about where the game was played. The Minnesota Vikings' striking new glass-fronted stadium sits right on the Mississippi Flyway. It is the biggest bird-killing building in all Minneapolis. Birds fly right into it and die. The all-glass Javits Convention Center in Manhattan successfully implemented retrofit solutions - subtle to the human eye, instantly noticeable to birds - to minimize the same problem. Here's to urging the Vikings and the NFL to do the same thing. Pronto. Their stadium is glorious for the apex avians who won there today, but a death trap for their smaller real-life feathered cousins that die there every day.

Thanks for the post, Richard. Do we have any stats or other details we can use to push for change? There is an “ongoing study” but I feel ill equipped to chime in. As s local I would like to help.
