Sunwoda Plans to Develop Solid-State Batteries

On the evening of December 12, Sunwoda issued an announcement stating that its subsidiary Sunwoda?Power and Xiamen XTC New Energy Materials Co., Ltd. (referred to as "XTC New Energy") signed the "Solid-State Battery Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement."

Based on the complementarity and compatibility of the two parties in strategic cooperation, they will give full play to the market and technological advantages in their respective fields, promote the industrialization of a series of new energy battery materials for solid-state batteries, jointly develop a series of new energy battery materials for solid-state batteries, and further expand business cooperation at the appropriate time.

The cooperation between the two parties includes four parts: the development of cathode materials for solid-state batteries, the development of electrolytes and related materials for solid-state batteries, and cooperative development and industrialization cooperation of solid-state batteries.

In terms of the cooperative development of solid-state batteries, Sunwoda will rely on its deep R&D and manufacturing technology accumulation in lithium-ion batteries and solid-state batteries, and develop high-energy-density and high-safety solid-state batteries based on new cathode materials and solid electrolytes provided by XTC New Energy. Specifically, it includes composite cathode ions, electronic conductive network construction, high-stable electrolyte film development, and lithium-dendrite-free high-coulomb efficiency lithium metal anode development, so as to meet the commercial application needs of solid-state batteries in new energy vehicles, energy storage systems and other fields.

As an important direction of the next generation of battery technology, solid-state batteries have the advantages of high energy density, high safety, and long life. They are considered to be an important energy solution for future electric vehicles. However, there are uncertainties in the industrialization of solid-state batteries.

It is reported that Sunwoda's first-generation semi-solid-state battery with an energy density of 300Wh/kg has been developed, and the second-generation semi-solid-state battery product is in the pilot development stage. Its energy density will reach 400Wh/kg, and it is expected to be installed and verified at the end of this year.

In addition, the first-generation all-solid-state battery product with an energy density of 400Wh/kg has been tested in small trials, and the second-generation all-solid-state battery with a higher energy density is also being developed. The design and construction of the all-solid-state battery production line is also being accelerated, and it is planned to have mass production capacity in 2026.
