The Human Cost of Budget Cuts: A Call to Action Missouri’s funding cuts have left hundreds of individuals with developmental disabilities without the services they need to live with dignity and independence. Stories like Mary Ellen’s, who faced isolation and institutionalization due to Medicaid errors and waiver freezes, highlight the devastating impact. With over 360 people on waitlists for essential services and thousands more in inappropriate settings, this crisis demands immediate reform. It’s time to prioritize human rights, restore funding, and advocate for a system that empowers every individual to thrive.
