Sungrow's New 3 - Phase Hybrid Inverter

Now this is sexy! For us PV professionals it has always been challenging to design off-grid or hybrid systems that provides 3 phase power easily and flexibly, forced to use multi single phase inverter/chargers connected in parallel while using parallel kits to provide 3 phase power which may not be effective on both installation and cost levels.

However, it seems Sungrow changed that with its new & innovative 3 phase hybrid inverter/charger that got many solutions in a single box! Be able to supply PV power to 3 phase loads in conjunction with the grid (acting as grid-tied inverter), while charging your batteries from PV to maximize free energy at night (self-consumption).

Additionally, if grid is out a rapid switch to backup mode in eye-blinking speed (<20 ms) will power selected loads (critical loads like fridge, lights or A.C.) from the solar or battery. No need for additional manual or external transfer switches as all done inside! It’s capable of providing up to 3.3kVA per phase in backup mode and it’s even safe to external grid workers (anti-islanding protection).

In a case where battery is discharged and no enough solar power (at night or very low sunlight), batteries will be charged by the grid (bi-directional charging). However, this inverter needs high-voltage batteries no below 160V which yes, means using Lithium Ion batteries.
