Sundial Musings to Track Results

The Sundial allows us to track time using the sun. It is consistent and accurate and

low tech! Every movement of the sun is recorded by the sundial against a milestone - an hour in the day. Each hour reduces the 24 hour day into manageable chunks making the day less overwhelming and allowing a way to mark progress.

Measurement is the first step that leads to control and eventually to improvement. If you can’t measure something, you can’t understand it. If you can’t understand it, you can’t control it. If you can’t control it, you can’t improve it.” Dr. H. James Harrington

Do you track your results in business or life?

Great leaders consistently track their progress and then make quick decisions to readjust as needed so they attain their vision. How you track your progress isn't important. What is important is that you take time to determine what you have accomplished, how that relates to your bigger goals and the time frame you have set to achieve that goal.

Like each hour on a sundial, a milestone is a point in time that is predetermined for you to have achieved something significant. This may be a task, a percentage of completion, or a revenue goal.

If you are looking for a proven system that you can implement immediately, check our our Leadership Journal. This journal is a great low tech option for you to use to emulate great leaders. This proven system guides you through steps designed to set goals, plan tasks, take action, review your progress and adjust along the way so that you move you forward and upward. I liked the 60 foot sundial that was right next to it in AZ. I love sundials and your metaphor is wonderful.
