I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s found this week confusing. There’s a lot I could say but it doesn’t feel like the right time.?
For better or worse you don’t always get what you want.?
A difficult lesson.

When do you know your message has landed?
One of the simplest indicators is when you no longer have to deliver it yourself.?
I was in London this week working with a long standing corporate client. I’ve trained and coached their teams for a number of years and they’d asked me to come in to help them prepare some presentations for a conference they’re holding next month.?
I no longer have to convince them of the merits for rehearsal. Their results in pitches and presentations speak for themselves. But even knowing how committed they are to the process, being in the room with several of the presenters really put a smile on my face.?

When it came time for feedback, before I had a chance to open my mouth, they’d cut me off at the pass. “I know what you're going to say” they’d exclaim, then proceeded to give themselves detailed and relevant feedback on their own performance and content without me uttering a word.
Of course, I still had a few pointers to add and some guidance to give but it was music to my ears to know that they had internalised the IMPACT methodology and knew how to use it.?
I may do myself out of a job eventually but it feels like a definite win.?

I did something scary this week. I let go of the reins and relinquished control of the title for my new book. I’ve spent the last few months working on literally hundreds of options and have whittled it down to a handful that I like.?
I’m currently in test mode. I always tell clients that “it’s not about you, it’s all about the audience”. I’m taking my own medicine. It doesn’t matter what I like. It’s what prospective readers like that counts.???
