My Pastor asked me to teach Sunday School in Church this Sunday.
While meditating and seeking for direction on what I could teach about that will be impactful in the lives of the people who will be attending.
This verse came to my spirit;
1 Corinthians 6:5a
"I say this to your shame. Is it so that there is not a wise man among you..."
If you read the previous verses in that Chapter, you will notice the chapter is talking about resolving disputes and the issues of life in general. Then particularly in verse 5, Paul says, "I say this to your shame. Is it so that there is not a wise man among you..."
Very pertinent point raised here. I am one of those who strongly believe in the power and benefits of receiving wise counsel especially as a young man. The role of having pastors (priests), mentors, coaches, elders and people who have experienced life more than you and receiving counsel from any of these people is so critical.
In the journey of life, things will happen and many times you will not understand, you will not have clarity about the next steps and guess working your next steps is not always the best option although it is possible to guess work and succeed. That is why it is critical to have a wise person(s) around us. Someone or people you can run to for counsel, for clarity, for knowledge exposure...
People can become wise through:
- Spiritual direction and revelation (The ministry of the Holy Spirit, Prophetic gifts etc) - "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you" James 1:5
- Experience and age
- Study and practice
It is important to intentionally seek and have people of wisdom in our lives. It is also important to grow into becoming a person of wisdom who can provide counsel to other people. Become someone who can become trustworthy and credible to other people.
Two more incredible benefits of having access to wisdom through wise people.
1. Wisdom provides a sense of personal security, stability, and well-being.
“My son . . . keep sound wisdom and discretion . . . Then you will walk on your way securely, and your foot will not stumble. If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. (Prov. 3:21-26)

2. Wisdom earns favor in the workplace.
“A servant who deals wisely has the king’s favor.” (Prov. 14:35) . . . Impress your boss! Wisdom makes you a more valuable employee. “A servant who deals wisely will rule over a son who acts shamefully and will share the inheritance as one of the brothers.” (Prov. 17:2).
Seek men and women of wisdom intentionally.
Have a beautiful Sunday
The LORD make His face shine upon you [with favor], And be gracious to you [surrounding you with lovingkindness]
Blessings
