*Alan Kay is an American computer scientist and educator renowned for his significant contributions to the field of computing. Born in 1940, he is best known for his pioneering work on graphical user interfaces (GUI) and object-oriented design, concepts that revolutionized modern computing.

He played a key role in the development of Smalltalk, one of the first object-oriented programming languages, at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) in the 1970s. This work greatly influenced the development of modern operating systems, especially those using graphical interfaces like Windows and macOS.

Alan Kay is also known for his prophetic vision of personal computing and his ideas on education, emphasizing interactive learning and the use of the computer as an educational tool. His contributions have been recognized by numerous awards, including the Turing Award in 2003, often considered the Nobel Prize of computing.
