Are you all too heavy when you wake up? Is the evening chill a bit too unusual? Are you also torn between dining outside or tucking in at home? We hear you. It’s that time of the season. Undeterred by the less balmy weather, we're?certain there’s a bright side too. It's called fall.

A long weekend getaway (reccos further down), Thanksgiving stuffing, Christmas carols and twinkling lights! All right coming up.

It’s Tuesday evening on a post work do by the Onassis Stegi building in Neos Kosmos, Athens. The block street party is back after a 3 year?gap and the music is definitely on. Drinks come plenty and smiles are too as you swirl through the slow-moving crowd, occasionally waving to fellow party-goers. Everyone’s alive. Along with the flashing neon sign on the wall.

Cut to Thursday morning. Breakfast in Kolonaki and a work-do, gives a kick to the day especially given the yummy french toast at?Philos. While I'm not very big on the Celebrities glitz, it's interesting to meet and share a table with famous people that have lived through it all. Especially if that also involves some good laughs. A few hours later, I'm stumbling upon even more of them as I arrive at the Pallas theatre. Apparently it's the big opening night of the play; something I hadn't noticed when booking in advance. Still, the play is remarkably hilarious with quick-witted lines all throughout. Who doesn't love a good laugh?

Friday night work-out is yet another?booster on a busy week. Friends, new acquaintances and funny times. As I sip a beer on what has transpired to a post-sweat weekly routine by now, I'm thinking of how little time we set aside for those funny moments.

As work, errands and everyday life gets into the way it's good to embed those quirky moments that brightening up the days - and nights too.

Getaway List vol.I?- Long Weekend

• Nafplio?- just a bit over an hour away from Athens, this is the perfect spot for quick weekend getaway. Of course we recommend?Opora Country Living?(if you can find availability).
• Volos?- another small-scaled city we love, right next to the water and with a rich food culture. Meze and?tsipouro?by the sea?
• Pelion?- a bit further up the road from Volos, lies the beauty of Mount Pelion's wilderness. Small cafés, tavernas and a swirling roadtrip through the forest but right next to the water too.
• Zagorohoria?- more than 3hrs away from Athens, but oh so definitely worth it. A mountainous terrane and a soothing solitude for a quiet long weekend away.
• Xanthi?- for the more daring ones, Xanthi is an architectural gem and a melting pot for culture. Just stroll around the cosy streets of the small city and you'll sure feel that immediately.
