Sun and Wind Working Together: NSW's Stellar Renewable Milestones
With a brisk yet clearing sunny cool shift sweeping through NSW today, after a few warm days earlier in the week, we've witnessed a notable increase in the NSW Maximum Renewable Energy (RE) Share. On Thu 05-10-2023 at 11:25 hrs, it rose by nearly 11% to 87.5%, up from 78.9% on Mon 25-09-2023 at 10:55 hrs.
Compared to the previous peak on Mon 25-09-2023, NSW had an extra 64 MW of Solar, 1,308 MW of Wind, and 403 MW of Rooftop Solar. This coincided with NSW Native Demand, increasing by 773 MW to reach 9,400 MW.
We can see, in the graph below, the trajectories of NSW, Queensland and Victoria RE Share Maximums since March 2018 when AEMO made Regional Rooftop PV outputs public. Today's maximum in NSW, gives it the lead amongst these three states. Which one will be first to reach an instantaneous 100% RE Share, joining South Australia and Tasmania?
We also observed a rise in various NSW renewable-related records, as detailed in the table below.
In addition, there were subtle shifts in the NEM:
We are amidst the season where such records typically emerge, showcasing the progression of our Energy Transition. The upcoming weeks and months will provide further insights. Rest assured, we'll keep you updated.
