Summing Up September

Summing Up September

As is the case for many people, September is a particularly busy month in my annual calendar. It’s also a period when I find myself wearing two distinct, yet interrelated, hats – one personal, one professional.

As a dad to three young children – two of them of school-going age, with the third to follow in their steps – this time of year entails frenetic preparations to ensure that my kids are ready for, and settling back into, their classroom environments after the summer.

In tandem with the aforementioned school-based parental duties, much of my day job over recent weeks and months has been focused on ensuring that Actavo | Building Solutions’ list of education-related modular construction projects are completed in time for the new academic year.

We’ve been progressing significant projects for clients such as Paxton Academy, Eagaton Rothsay School, Ardley Hill School, Drapers and Maylands School, Bramber First School, Hawthorn School, Whytemead School, Brixton Hill Redevelopment – the list goes on and on – with a number of other jobs for handover later this month and next.

It’s exciting and, above all, a privilege, to help safeguard the futures of the next generation, by being part of a modular construction industry that is revolutionising accommodation provision right across the education sector (as well as in healthcare, corporate, residential and elsewhere).

Faster, more flexible, cost-effective and durable, the range of modular units on offer for primary, post-primary and higher education institutions are increasingly turning heads and making a measurable difference to schooling and education facilities the length and breadth of the UK.

With the Department of Education earlier this summer revealing that 750,000 more places are needed in our schools over the next decade (that’s equivalent to the entire population of Leeds!) it makes sense to act sooner rather than later.

Good stuff Matt - we'll cover some more of this in future issues of Offsite Magazine - www.offsitemagazine.co.uk - these will make great case studies and help to inspire more specifiers of volumetric modular solutions.
