Summers are challenging for the Farmers ...

Heat gets unbearable for us during the summers in Mewat which is located near Gurgaon.

Plants & crops need more water & shade to survive the harsh summers of North India.

The following vegetables grow well during the summers ...

  1. OKRA which is Bhindi.
  2. Lauki.
  3. Karela.
  4. Pumpkins.
  5. Cucumbers.
  6. Melons.
  7. Tori.
  8. Chilli.
  9. Corn.
  10. Mint.

The time to do repairs & renovations in a farm is summers & a month after the monsoon. It is also time to get ready for harvesting the rain water during the monsoon.

Birds, Bees,Butterflies & the animals need drinking water to survive the dry conditions.

We feed the birds & squirrels our sweet peas which we grow at the farm. Parrots too come calling sometime. Let us wait for our Guavas to start fruiting for getting more parrots as our regular guests.

I am planning to earmark an area for Birds feeding in order increase the Biodiversity.

Make sure you dig ponds & trenches to harness the spare water which will go waste otherwise during the unabated rains in the monsoon.

We can grow a variety of summer season flowers in our farm.

If you are trying to put a new lawn then wait till mid June. Monsoon will help the grass to grow fast saving you water & the effort.
