Summer workouts
Can we rest on summers? Can we just put the kids to play games? Do we have to train them hard? Do we have to do both? Are we capable to do so?
Basketball is the same, in all ages, in all leagues. Athletes for youth teams to NBA pros to Veterans have to train hard and enjoy the game in the same time. From my point of view each coach much spend more time in home or his office, thinking of the practice to come than the actual practice. All our athletes are special individuals, and we ought to treat the as ones.
Planning my summer sessions for my 2002-2003-2004 born young men i desided to have 8 workout sessions/5 days a week. 3 workouts of strength and agility, 2 workouts for individual skill improvment, 1-2 team practice (focus on triple drive and p'n'roll), and 1-2 exibition games. Of course as anyone who has watched the Greek National Team compete, underestands that my focus will be at DEFENSE this summer, both individual and team...
Please let me know what do you think on my summer schedule, and lets exchange opinions on how to make better athletes, better people!
