The summer workbooks of innovation, Week 6: Data Governance and Hybrid Data Project Feedback

Welcome to the summer workbooks of innovation! We've put together a simple, easy-to-understand and fun programme to help you discover key concepts in a few minutes.?

For this sixth week, we continue on the theme of Data with an issue entitled "Data Governance and Hybrid Data Project Feedback".

Let's start by defining "data governance" together ??

Data Governance is the set of procedures put in place within a company in order to frame the retrieval of data as well as its use.

It is therefore good to know that a Data Governance project is a business project because its impacts are felt more on the organisational side than the technical side. Every employee in an organisation has a role to play in data governance. There is a team within the company that is responsible for leading this dynamic around data governance. The different roles are :

• Data Officer: responsible for data policy
• Data Owner: responsible for the content and quality of the data
• Data Steward: translates business needs into data needs, acting as a relay between the business and the IT department
• Data Analyst: supports the business on the information available, their data and their data analysis or reporting needs.

The organisation of Data Governance can be adjusted according to the company and the domain.

At its centre is the Data Officer. Data governance can be implemented in different ways: it can be centralised (everything is managed by the same team), decentralised (each BU manages the quality of its data) or hybrid.

5 million kilometres, 306,000 cumulative driving hours, over 100,000 speed bumps encountered....??

Christophe Ramond, Research Director of the French Road Safety Association, and Jean-Paul Muller, AI Global Practice Manager of the Inetum Group, open the bonnet of NORRM to discover the entire chain of data exploitation, from their capture to their use as communication content by the French Road Safety Association.??

This association has enabled us to study all types of metrics and the scope for using this type of platform for other use cases such as tracking, behavioural analysis, etc. Thanks to this, Inetum's innovation teams were able to develop a Smaas solution.

This is a mobile solution that allows data to be captured (speed, location, acceleration, activity, etc.) in a multimodal context via sensors in smartphones. Thanks to our team of Data Scientists, this data is exploited, transformed and cross-referenced with other external data (weather, road, etc.) to obtain relevant information that will enable us to implement effective actions and take judicious decisions.??

After the exploitation of this data in the context of road prevention, our teams continue to explore other use cases to which we can bring value and all our know-how in terms of data exploitation in different fields: mobility, health, .... In this context, data collection campaigns are regularly carried out by volunteers within the various inetum teams to train and improve our algorithms.??
