While July was definitely a quieter month with a lot of Canadians taking time off to travel, I'm noticing that things are already picking back up part of the way through August.
- there's a LOT of negative sentiment around immigration right now in Canada - and from what I'm reading, around the world as well. Last week I was quoted in an interesting news article talking more about the topic, including the misuse of immigration terms that could be swaying public opinion. Read more of my thoughts and the article here.
- July was a huge month for Express Entry, with a total of 9 draws and some big CEC draws specifically. It gave me a lot to talk about on the Visto Show, where we did a deep dive on the EE draws in July, how study permit approvals are actually out-pacing the numbers in 2023 (for some reason...), the rise in aslymu claims, our new AI at Visto, and much more here.
- a lot of immigration firms spend a LOT of time on consultations. Prep, calls, follow up, research, you name it. Here's a recent post of mine explaining how law firms are using AI to automate many of those steps so they can save time and get way more done.
- some great episodes of the
Canadian Immigration Pros Podcast
recently, including a slightly different epi with
Olena Weber
on how to build a profitable immigration firm in 2024. This was a fun one. Can watch or listen to it on your favorite platform here.
- I think most industries are going to change over the next few years with tech and AI taking massive leaps forward. One benefit to the legal profession will be access to justice for those who couldn't otherwise afford it. Talked about this in more detail in a recent linkedin post here.
As you can see, definitely no shortage of updates or events these days. Canadian immigration continues to be a roller-coaster and I continue to think that creating/posting content, opinions, hot takes and more, is as valuable and important as ever for any business.
It was 1 of the 3 things I mentioned in my newsletter recently, where I talked about 3 business-related things I'm very bullish on. If you want to check it out and get more of my ramblings, definitely give it a read and subscribe here.
That's it for me, thanks as always for following along and hope you have an awesome week,

7 个月Way to go Josh Schachnow, thanks for the update. Agreed that consults take a ton of time and energy, so it's great to have tech / AI options as well.
