Summer Project by AIESEC UGM

Hello! In this short article, I would like to share what I have got during the Summer Project held by AIESEC UGM. I will share my experience as a Local Volunteer.

This Summer Project was held on July 11th to August 22nd 2019. They had four programs: Tomorrowland (environment), Global Playground (education), Jogjapreneur (enterpreneurship), and Mahadana (culture). I enrolled for Mahadana. Among all applicants for this project (different programs), only 48 people were accepted, including me. I had to participate in all of the activities arranged by the organizing committee as a liaison officer for the Exchange Participants (EP) from various countries and also as a photographer during the events.

When we gathered for the first time, I had no idea of what would happen. It turns out that I had to be ready for any unexpected change, talked to the participants, and participated in activities that mostly occur in places 30 minutes away from my dorm (I had to use Go-Ride often since Yogyakarta doesn't offer decent public transportation and I didn't have my own vehicle). It was very challenging, as I have never met a lot of foreigners whose first languages are not English at a time before. I learned how to communicate with foreigners whose English speaking level varied. As the schedule were intense, I became worn out during the journey.

Overall, I got a lot of experience during the volunteering session.
