A reader recently commented that she didn’t know that you changed colors in jewelry for each season. I replied that accessories play an important role in the world of fashion; shifting in theme, color and style with each season. As jewelry designers, we are inspired and influenced by nature. All around us are bursts of color as seen in flowers, birds, and gardens and we love being by the water. Our current collection reflects the colors and rhythms of the ocean, the carefree spirit of summer and summer jewelry trends dictated by the fashion industry.

A primary difference seen in summertime apparel is lower necklines. That leaves a lot of bare skin begging for adornment. We keep this in mind as we design. In summer, you can wear jewelry that is bigger and maybe more colorful than you might usually wear and it is easier to achieve this bolder, brighter look with necklaces made from beads, lampwork artisan glass and semi-precious stones than from gold or silver. Summer is a wonderful time to play with your look and have fun with your accessories.

Statement Necklaces: Gemstone and Boho Showstoppers

A statement necklace can transform an ordinary outfit to an extraordinary look. Beautiful gemstone pieces in crew-neck styles are great for highlighting your décolletage and bring color and interest up around your face.
Or sport the boho look by accentuating a v-neck or halter top with a bold pendant necklace. A navel-grazing piece lengthens your silhouette and adds flair to your most basic jeans with a white shirt. Next time you’re dashing out the door, toss on one of these statement styles to put a fashion-forward spin on your ensemble.

 Beach Glam

Looking chic at the beach or the pool is easy when you add a few key accessories to your swimsuit and cover-up. The first order of business is protecting your skin so a great hat and sunglasses are a must. Then don some beach jewelry  – go for fun beaded necklaces, pendants, or layered pieces. Layering with lengths of beaded necklaces can achieve a hippy look or for a minimalist look, layer lots of  little delicate pieces.  Avoid things that are too fussy, too precious to risk losing in the sand and heavy metals that will get hot in the sun.  Please remember to never expose your jewelry to chlorine swimming pools or hot tubs.

 

 The Nautical Look

The nautical look is a timeless one that finds its place every year in fashion and has become even more popular with the expansion of resort collections. The traditional staples for the nautical look are preppy-chic bold stripes, blue and white, and mostly white outfits. Enhance this look with jewelry that has maritime accents like braiding and over-sized chain links and baubles in red,white, blue, black and metallics.
Then there’s the more feminine take on the nautical look featuring breezy maxi dresses and blouses with oceanic motifs like coral and starfish and dreamy deep sea colors.  This look calls for ocean inspired jewelry; like whimsical pearl pieces with mermaid vibes and polished seaglass necklaces that mirror the colors of the sea.

Chokers

The choker trend resurfaced in spring and will ride the summer waves into the fall collections. When you hear the word choker, you may think of black silk ribbons from a century ago but they have gotten a make-over. They’re still just as sexy but now seen in a myriad of styles from heavy metals, to gemstone and crystal embellished, to sleek seventies inspired designs peppered with ethnic accents. Now sometimes worn perched on the collarbone, the choker draws the eye to the neckline and its tight embrace is more alluring than ever.

Bracelets
