Summer Internship at TCB
Texas Capital Bank Summer 2022 Intern Class

Summer Internship at TCB

With 2 days remaining to complete my internship I would like to reflect on the past ten weeks at Texas Capital as a Risk Management Intern within the Risk Compliance and Analytics team. The past ten weeks have helped me enrich and develop my soft and technical skills.

I cannot begin to describe how welcoming everyone at the organization has been and the opportunities that we have been provided with as interns has been a privilege.

Coming into TCB, my favorite day was when all the interns went to volunteer. We packed essential food items into bags ready to be sent out to underprivileged families. Apart from this, we had the opportunity to have Rob C. Holmes , CEO, come and speak for all the interns where he advised us on how to be successful and gather the most from this opportunity. Texas Capital Bank has changed the way they run and grown rapidly in the past 2 years with revenue increasing by almost 10-12%.

?My role at TCB has been within the Risk Compliance and Analytics Department where I learned how to create dashboards on PowerBI that filtered through data on complaints. I understood the complaints management process and learned how to create measures using DAX statements to find exceptions to the rules stated. We looked at the business process, created business requirements, developed the dashboard, validated the results and, lastly, tested for accuracy. This was done to drive a high level of data integrity in complaint management reporting. I also participated in a prospecting challenge with 40+ interns where I analyzed a list of 400+ company’s financials, status, overall standing in the marketing using several sources such as Pitchbook, Greenwich, CapitaliQ and other available sources to find potential prospects for TCB. This project has created tremendous impact on the organization, and it has been a privilege to be a part of that. Through this project, I have enriched my technical skills in Excel and Salesforce.

?We have also had several networking events including social events, town halls, and coffee chats with people from across the organization. We have had panels of leaders from different departments present to us and answer all questions.

The environment at TCB pushes you to grow since everyone provides you with vast opportunity to do so. One key takeaway would be to never stop being curious and keep asking questions until I exhaust all resources. I am excited to see what is in store for the remaining two days at TCB. Lastly, thank you Patrick Harwood for guiding me through various stages of my project and providing endless support. I am extremely thankful to Kristy Hoffman , Katrina Ward , Joel Rocha , all employees at TCB, and the Summer 2022 TCB Intern Class for making this such a special and valuable opportunity.?
