Summer Internship Program

Summer Internship Program

This summer Radius Packaging had the pleasure of working with four interns: Chloe Seltz, our supply chain intern, Kyle Staus, our quality control intern, Colette Goldammer our sales and marketing Intern, and Josh Lucchesi our engineering intern. They spent three months learning about their respective fields and applying their knowledge to a multitude of projects to help the company’s success. Getting to see the inner workings of a company, we here at Radius are proud to have been able to set these students up for a successful future. We had a chance to talk to our interns as they reflect on their time here at Radius.

Chloe Seltz is going to be a Senior at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse and is majoring in management and minoring in data analytics.

Chloe: During my internship at Radius Packaging, my expectations stemmed from the job description; engage in sustainability projects and analyze cost savings through strategic sourcing. I was ultimately given a wide range of tasks and responsibilities. Throughout my internship, I was involved in various projects, such as handling both internal and external communication for the recycling initiative, managing the daily resin loss report, and placing purchase orders for corrugate items from various vendors based on forecasted daily usage. Additionally, I put my knowledge of business law to valuable use by reading through a supply agreement and identifying areas of concern. This experience provided me with a thorough understanding of the plastic industry’s supply chain management, with a focus on the importance of corrugated packaging and sustainability tracking. I enjoyed the positive and friendly work culture, supportive managers and coworkers, and the abundance of food around the office. The internship provided career clarity, solidifying my career interest in the supply chain field, and allowed me to network with managers and coworkers. I worked on my time management and organizational skills and received meaningful feedback from my boss. Lastly, I was exposed to the plastic industry’s latest trends, technologies, and practices.

Kyle Staus is going to be a sophomore at The University of Alabama and is majoring in Business Management.

Kyle: I truly had no idea what I was in for when I started my internship journey with Radius Packaging this past summer. It being my first internship, I expected to solely gain a bit of real-world experience to figure out what exactly I would like to do in the future; what I got was a whole lot more. Radius Packaging's internship program was great for me because even though I did not have any prior real-life career related experience, their onboarding and training was very informative and useful, and everyone was flexible, patient, and responsive to any questions I had. Even when I did not have any questions or concerns, my supervisors, other interns, and the Human Development team made sure to frequently check in with me. Working in the quality department implementing new projects and initiatives,?I aspired to gain practical experience in my field of study and witness how my knowledge can be applied in real-world scenarios. I now understand the intricacies of the industry, while expanding my professional network in the meantime. As my internship finishes, I find myself in a long list of completed tasks and projects. From actively participating in team meetings and collaborating on key projects, all exposed me to various facets of Radius Packaging's operations and processes.?I am eager to build upon the lessons learned, the skills acquired, and the relationships formed as I continue to pursue my professional aspirations. This summer internship has undoubtedly been a pivotal steppingstone in my journey towards personal and professional development.

Colette Goldammer is going to be a junior at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and is majoring in Marketing and minoring in American Sign Language (ASL)

Being my first internship and first marketing position, I didn’t know what to expect starting the internship program. Any basic expectations I had going in were blown away by the Radius team. Radius wasted no time giving me real-world marketing experience. After orientation, I dove right into my first project. I was able to touch on everything in the sales and marketing world, from digging up new contacts using Salesforce and ZoomInfo, creating graphics for internal and external marketing, working on our website, and spending time doing sustainability research. I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked in so many facets of sales and marketing. Going back to my third year of university with invaluable experience, I know this internship has set me up to have a very successful marketing career. Thank you to everyone on the Radius team for being kind, accepting, and making this a great summer.

Josh Lucchesi is going to be a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and is majoring in Mechanical Engineering

Prior to joining the Radius Team, I expected to get a lot of good engineering experience out of this internship. I wanted to be able to experience designing solutions to help operations run more efficiently and being hands on with projects. Over the course of my engineering internship, I focused a lot on projects for making the downstream equipment run smoothly and creating designs to better the outcome of the products being sent out to the customers. I learned how to work with my hands and how to think about things critically as there is always more than one way to solve a problem and it is always about weighing your options to find the best solution for the company. Radius Packaging is a very interesting form of business and there are always projects to work on, so I was kept busy and never felt bored working for them. Lastly, I really appreciated my coworkers for helping me to better understand how the company runs and the purpose of all the equipment they use, so I can have a greater idea about how manufacturing works and what all goes into a company of this form.

Thank you again to our interns for a great summer. We wish you all the best moving forward into your very promising career futures!
