Summer Internship at C.H. Robinson

This summer I had the opportunity to intern at C.H. Robinson, a Fortune 200 company. My internship experience at C.H. Robinson was truly special and all I could ever hope for. Even though this was the first time the internship program was offered at the Global Forwarding division of C.H. Robinson, the company, particularly the Dallas GF branch, had comprehensive training and a schedule ready for me since day one.

First few weeks consisted of online training regarding the company and its industry as well as shadowing and learning from the operations team. This was a great experience since it gave me the necessary knowledge for the rest of my time here. Not only does C.H. Robinson have multiple divisions but also offers many different services and it is important to understand them all.

After getting an understanding of the company, its people, technology, and the industry, I felt ready to start learning the sales process at C.H. Robinson. I loved having the ability to shadow many Sales Executives and learn their unique approach to acquiring new clients. One of the best parts of my time with the Sales Executives was the ability to witness every step of interaction with a new client. From prospecting and researching about the potential client to meeting with that same customer and signing a contract to provide service for them. 

On top of all of that, during my time here I also had the opportunity to set up Skype interviews with different Directors at C.H. Robinson, attend a Trade Compliance Seminar, and present multiple projects. Throughout my time here I have learned that C.H. Robinson is usually described as a “provider of multimodal transportation services and third-party logistics (3PL)” but it is so much more than that. It is particularly a company that is built on Technology and offers premium service to its clients. 

I feel very fortunate to have had this opportunity and want to thank everyone at C.H. Robinson, especially everyone at the Dallas GF branch for their valuable input and willingness to help regarding any matter. The people here are truly amazing and are the best part of the company as they are the ones driving C.H. Robinson forward!
