Summer Intern Success!

Summer Intern Success!

Pippa Coyle shares her thoughts on her Summer intern position with Initiate as a Market Access Analyst –

"I have really enjoyed my summer internship and I wanted to share a glimpse of the fascinating research work I've been fortunate to be a part of over the past few months.

Diving into the research: From day one, I was immersed in a world of health technology appraisals as I supported the research behind Initiate's Reimbursement Radar. Working alongside the team I got hands-on experience with each country's reimbursement pathway and learned how to capture the key information that feeds the analysis tool.

Supporting HTA documentation: I have been involved in reviewing and adapting HTA submissions from one country to another, paying close attention to the template requirements and with support from and under the watchful eye of the HTA lead.

Competitor analysis: One of the highlights was assisting with researching pharma company structures to inform a competitor analysis piece, utilising LinkedIn, and web sources to build a picture of the landscape.

Literature Reviewing: I have been part of screening and extracting data for various projects, having to understand the key criteria and important information to capture.

A Culture of Learning: I have enjoyed completing industry training courses on HTA processes and introductory health economic principles. As well as company-specific training courses.

Part of the team: Beyond the work, I have been part of a very supportive environment. The team welcomed me from day one and have all been fantastic in sharing their expertise and knowledge to give me a broad insight into the world of pharma market access and health economics.?I have really enjoyed being part of the daily team calls and lunch and learn activities. Imogen Taylor has been a great line manager and mentor along the way.

Grateful for the Experience: Reflecting on these enriching months, I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to meaningful research. This internship has solidified my passion for scientific inquiry and opened doors to a world of possibilities.

Next Steps: With this internship wrapping up, I'm excited to carry these experiences with me into my academic journey. I am starting a Chemistry degree at Warwick University in a few weeks and I'm sure the research techniques and transferable industry skills will come in handy!

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this incredible journey. Here's to the amazing mentors, teammates, and opportunities that make it all possible! "
