Summer Highlights: My Journey as a Data Analyst Intern at Alcon

My summer internship at Alcon has been an amazing experience, helping me grow professionally and learn a lot about the eye care industry. Right from the start, I was welcomed into a vibrant work environment that promoted both learning and contributing.

One of the most impactful projects I worked on was creating a user guide for a sponsorship tracker. I wrote detailed instructions and explained key lines of code, ensuring the team could use the tracker effectively. Working closely with various stakeholders to gather requirements and feedback, I learned the importance of clear communication.

I also helped the core conference team transition from Smartsheet to Visual Task Board for project management. This change improved our team's efficiency and gave me practical experience with project management tools.

Another significant project was creating a Power BI dashboard to visualize the budget for the PED (Professional Education & Development) team. This task helped me develop skills in data visualization and provided the team with a clear view of their budget allocations and expenditures.

The projects I worked on saved my team a total of 8 hours per week, demonstrating the real impact of my contributions.

A highlight of my internship was attending a strategy conference in Phoenix, Arizona. Traveling with the team gave me deeper insights into the company's strategic direction and the chance to network with industry leaders. This experience was both educational and inspiring.

Throughout my internship, I met and learned from many professionals at Alcon, including brand managers, the head of global R&D, and the head of strategy and innovation. These interactions gave me diverse insights into different aspects of the business and emphasized the importance of networking and continuous learning.

I've learned so much during this internship. I've built a solid foundation in project management, improved my data analysis skills, and gained a better understanding of the eye care industry. Most importantly, I've learned the value of teamwork, effective communication, and adaptability in a professional setting.

Overall, my internship at Alcon has been a memorable experience, preparing me well for my career ahead.
