Summer game and minicourse
?????? Alphabet. It's nothing, right? Czech alphabet. That sounds more exciting.
If you are planning to start learning Czech, you have probably found out the basic information. Maybe you watched a few YT videos or even bought a textbook. Maybe you even opened it and read something about Czech letters and how they are pronounced.
?????? What interested you the most? I would be interested in everything that at first glance differs from my own, i.e. Czech. In Czech, it will probably be the letters with hooks and commas. If you have already encountered diacritical marks in other languages, you may have a tendency to compare and contrast them. If not, you will subconsciously ignore them. Your brain is not used to them and does not "see" them.
?? Be that as it may, do you know how to really pronounce Czech sounds? You may have already learned a few Czech words or sentences. Some of them are understood by your Czech neighbors, but some are not. Why? Because some sounds are the same or almost the same in your language, so you say them in a way that Czechs understand them. But not other times. Either you pronounce the letters as you are used to from your language, or you simply make the sounds a little differently and they don't sound very Czech. So you will have to learn to "produce" these sounds.
??Come and try to guess how the Czech A and E are pronounced according to the video in the next post.
?? Write to me in the comments which letter you think corresponds to the sound I am saying.
??? Then, check the right answer on my FB page.
?????? Interested in more? I would like to meet you in the Czech from Scratch mini-course on July 7-9, 2023. See more info on my Flexispeak FB page.
