At our last Kidz n’ Coaches-El Paso event of the year, we raised our 100% Juice Boxes and gave cheers to a year of wonderful memories and friendships.?
In this last event, we got creative with these neat colorful art scratch off papers, where the children were only limited to their imaginations for what they could draw. The Coaches?
inspired ideas and even taught techniques! We also brought back a crowd favorite, Nok Hockey! The excitement and joy filled the time we had together.
The 4th?graders will return next year, but we will say goodbye to the 5th?graders as they transition into middle school. We wished them the best of luck and to always remember that there are people in this world that will offer them care, empathy, and always root for them. Most importantly, there will always be safe spaces in which they can be themselves and meet others in real encounters, form growth-promoting relationships, and emerge into new potentials through self-actualization. In a time of uncertainty, fear, and social unrest, empowering children is one of the greatest investments into a kinder, more humane future. Thankfully, our extraordinary Coaches: Danielle, Sandra, Frank, Louis E. B. , and Michelle have done wonders. Truly individuals that are changing the world.
Special thanks to the Rather Prize for funding this year’s events, all the folks at Western Hills Elementary, our extraordinary Coaches, and the wonderful children.?
Stay tuned for next year’s events! We will gear up again in August. Until then, have a great summer from all of us at Kidz n’ Coaches-El Paso, and be on the lookout for the release of the TEDxElPaso talk about the program, that will be out soon. We are also looking forward to planning and event with Mohawk Valley Community College 's Kidz n' Coaches program (which is the original!).
