Sunday evening, I found myself rifling through my previous articles, reminiscing and reflecting on the paths my thoughts had taken. Although I had today's topic in mind, a realization dawned upon me. There was a striking consistency in my recent musings, a subtle thread weaving through the last few pieces, connecting them to today's message. So, let's take a journey back in time to 2020, a year of lockdowns and introspection.
In the stillness of those days, I decided to embark on a small adventure: growing my own fruits and vegetables. I ordered a raised garden bed from Amazon, set it up, and planted a variety of vegetables and melons. However, the isolated spot I chose became a buffet for the local Florida iguanas, and they devoured my sprouts before they could even escape the seedling phase.
Fast forward to the end of May. I had just purchased a beautiful honeydew melon. As I sliced it open and scooped out the seeds, an idea struck me. I folded the seeds into foil and set them aside, savoring the sweet fruit. Weeks later, as I pondered life's many questions, I found that foil-wrapped bundle on my kitchen windowsill. In a moment of spontaneity, I opened my front door and planted five seeds behind a large bush.
Every morning, during my walk with the dogs, I would glance to my right, hoping to see some sign of growth. For days, there was nothing. Then, one morning, tiny sprouts broke through the soil, and a surge of excitement filled my heart. But despite my hopes, these sprouts remained in the seedling phase, struggling to thrive.
One day, as doubts about my life's direction began to creep in, I sought solace in the fresh air outside. Looking at those struggling seedlings, an idea blossomed. I took a stick, made six holes in the dirt to the left of my door, and planted new seeds, consciously replacing my seeds of doubt with seeds of confidence.
For the next week, every time doubt tried to take root in my mind, I walked to a different part of my property and planted more seeds. Front yard, side planters, back garden – no spot was left untouched. After about ten days, sprouts began to emerge everywhere, transforming into vigorous vines in some places.
What's the point, you ask? My first garden failed because it was left unattended. The second sprouted but didn't thrive, hidden behind a bush with water but no sunlight. But when I chose to release my metaphorical seeds of doubt and plant seeds of confidence all around me, they flourished. Each seed received the full sunlight, Florida rain, and protection from the neighborhood power walkers and dog walkers, keeping wildlife at bay.
Every day, I now plant seeds within my network – seeds of confidence, strength, positivity, and empowerment. Many of us are fishing on the wrong side of the boat, but if we stay positive and truly believe, we can cast our nets on the other side and pull in an abundance of whatever we seek. When seeds of doubt invade your mind, replace them with seeds of positivity. Plant them with the belief that they will grow. And if they don't, learn from the experience and adjust your approach.
Success is not an overnight miracle. It often comes from trial and error, from learning and adapting. Your journey is a lesson, and through trial and error, you create the vine that eventually bears fruit. Keep planting those seeds, nurture them with care, and watch your garden of life flourish.
