A Summer of Event Connectivity

Mind-blowing, unforgettable, and exceptional are just a few words that we’d use to describe the summer of 2023 so far for Corona IT Solutions. And no, we’re not talking about the abundance of Bank Holidays in May or the scorching weather in June. We’re talking about working along-side some of the biggest events and festivals in the UK; Glastonbury, Riverside Festival, Queens Park Disco, and The Scottish Association Beef Event.

The excitement and energy that filled the air at these events was truly next level. Let's take a look behind the scenes and see what we got up to!

Glastonbury

In the glorious fields of Somerset England, Glastonbury is one of the world's most anticipated festivals featuring a who's who of the biggest artists in the music industry. We were very excited to be working at this incredible festival to assist with the back-up connectivity.

We set up a failover Wi-Fi network for 6 of the main bars spread over the 900+ acre site in case the main network went down. Failover is extremely important for critical systems that require always-on accessibility. Our failover kicked in on the second day of the festival when the main network shutdown, successfully supporting the bars. Thus allowing them to continue taking card payments, for the remainder of the festival.

All be it, hearing the legendary Elton John singing for one last time on British soil was the cherry on top.

Riverside

The iconic grounds of Riverside Museum in Glasgow recently played host to the 10th anniversary celebration of Riverside. This electronic festival featured a variety of Scotland's homegrown talent as well as international DJ's.

We've been thrilled to offer seamless connectivity at the event for two years running now. Our team has worked hard to ensure that the bars and the vendors on site could use their card machines with ease thanks to our reliable WiFi network.

Queens Park Disco

Pitching up the tent in the Southside of Glasgow, Queens Park Disco returned with a BANG and transported attendees back to the golden era of disco. The crowd were in capable hands with Greg Wilson taking centre stage, one of the UK's earliest electronic pioneers.

For the initial setup, we used a bonded WAN solution, bonding mobile data and an on-site ADSL connection to provide continuous, quality connectivity. This allowed internet to be distributed around the site using wireless access points. The access points were connected through a combination of hardwired connections and wireless point-to-point links.

Scottish Beef Association Beef Event

After being confined by lockdown restrictions, The Scottish Beef Event made a triumphant return in June. The event was hosted by Dalswinton Estate, a venue perfectly positioned in the heart of Nith Valley (Dumfries). Thousands flocked to listen and participate in this year's key messaging: Climate change and Biodiversity.

Just like the other events, we provided a range of connectivity options to elevate the overall experience for guests. As well as this, to alleviate some of the stress from the event planners so they can focus on other operations of the event.
