Summer donations could be doubled in time for Christmas for local charity

A Cornwall based charity that supports survivors of sexual violence and domestic abuse could be in with a chance of seeing donations doubled as part of a Christmas Campaign.

The Women’s Centre Cornwall is taking part in this year’s Big Give Christmas Campaign and if they reach their target amount in pledges by the end of August, they could see that figure doubled.

The Big Give Christmas Campaign runs every year and gives charities the opportunity to have their donations doubled by match funding which is made up of pledges and contributions from Big Give Champions.

From now until August 31st the Women’s Centre Cornwall is looking for pledgers, pledgers do not have to donate now but make a pledge to donated to the charity between December 7th, 2021, and January 14th, 2022.

You can make your pledge to the Women’s Centre Cornwall here https://www.thebiggive.org.uk/s/pledge?campaignId=a056900001v3J4OAAU, or by emailing [email protected]

After more than 25 years of work in Cornwall, the Women’s Centre Cornwall still identifies that sexual and domestic violence are the biggest barriers to women’s empowerment. In addition to providing specialist support to survivors of abuse, the charity actively reaches out to women who are at risk of abuse, marginalised women and those who experiencing a negative impact in their daily lives due to the consequences of being abused. They want all women and girls to have their full human rights, reach their potential and actively participate in their own lives and communities.

Sexual and domestic abuse are deeply traumatic experiences with serious and longstanding consequences including negative impacts upon relationships, self-worth, ability to concentrate, confidence, health, and wellbeing. Many women will experience anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. With the charities support, women and girls are able to move on with their lives, restore their sense of wellbeing and have a much better chance of reaching their potential and living happy, fulfilling lives.

The Women’s Centre Cornwall helpline is available Monday to Friday 10am to 1pm and Monday and Thursday evenings 6 to 9pm by calling 01208 77099.
