Summer Days

Summer Days

When I was a kid, summer was by far my favorite season. The longest school vacation was always full of family, friends, and endless fun. In the 80s, we would go to my parent’s village in southern Spain where children were allowed to run free all day in the assurance that someone would look after us, eventually feed us and correct us whenever that was necessary.

It was remarkable to me how everyone knew exactly who I was just by profiling my face and mentally comparing it against all the known ones that had to leave the village looking for a better future. It was sunny and days were long, giving us equal opportunity to do many things or to concentrate only in contemplating the small changes happening around us.

We feel at home when we are around people that know who we are, and above the clouds, where it is always summer, pilots are part of a big family. Not only because we are surrounded by other pilots, but also because there are many other family members looking after us, so we can concentrate on contemplating the small changes happening around us and enjoy doing what we love to do.

Happy Christmas everyone, things will get better.
