Summer 2024 Internship @ Transdev US

As Summer 2024 wraps up, I want to reflect on my fantastic journey as a Finance Intern for Transdev US. Transdev is the largest private operator and integrator of multiple modes of transportation in the US.?

My primary responsibility was supporting the budgeting process for Transdev’s Fleet Services, a $150 million division with over 60 cost centers throughout the US. This division specializes in providing outstanding maintenance services to police, fire, ambulance, and other municipal equipment to various clients. My role focused on developing 2025 annual budgets for 40 of their cost centers. This involved collaborating closely with General Managers from various locations to understand their unique business operations, expenses, and revenue models. I utilized tools like Hyperion Planning to benchmark the 2025 budget against 6+6 forecasts and 2 years' worth of data. As a result, we prepared well-informed estimates for the expense accounts. This process enhanced my financial analysis skills and deepened my understanding of key metrics such as the EBIT of the location and their contribution to the whole division.

One of the most memorable aspects of my internship was the opportunity to visit the Cincinnati Office and the Streetcar facility. These visits not only deepened my understanding of the company's operations but also allowed me to connect with the on-site team. The tour of the Streetcar facility for the Finance Team, led by the General Manager, provided invaluable insights into their operations and emphasized the crucial role of employees at all cost centers towards the company's success.?

This internship has been a transformative experience, enhancing my technical abilities and strengthening my interpersonal skills. I am deeply grateful to my manager, Jen Green (VP of Finance Transdev), for entrusting me with this opportunity and for her inspiring work ethic and dedication. I also want to express my heartfelt thanks to my team members and mentors, Thomas Haynes and Jackson Dombrowski, for their support and willingness to share their knowledge. As I continue my journey as a student, I am confident that the knowledge and skills I’ve gained will be invaluable in my future career!
